Lifting One Student Up Through Education Uplifts Entire Communities For Generations.
At the heart of our foundation is the belief that investing in a single student’s future has a ripple effect that reaches families, neighborhoods, and beyond. By providing access to quality education and essential resources, we empower underprivileged students to break cycles of poverty and build a brighter tomorrow for themselves and their communities.
Scholarship Recipient’s Testimonials
"I want to sincerely thank the MDR Foundation for awarding me the MDR Foundation Scholarship. I am incredibly honored to have been selected as a recipient.
My name is Michael Menegalli. I recently graduated from Stony Brook University with a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and will soon begin pursuing my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Hofstra University.
The support from the MDR Foundation has alleviated some of the financial stress associated with pursuing higher education. As a first-generation college student, I recognize what a privilege it is to receive a college education, and I am deeply grateful every day for the opportunity to build a career doing something I truly love.
As I begin my three-year doctoral program in physical therapy, I am committed to giving it my all. I believe my future patients deserve nothing less. After earning my degree, I plan to practice as a licensed physical therapist and pursue a residency in a specialized field to further deepen my expertise.
I hope that one day I am in a position to open doors for others, just as the MDR Foundation has done for me—whether through financial support, mentorship, or education. I want to inspire others to pursue a career they love and one that will allow them to make a meaningful impact.
Thank you again for your generosity and support."

To the foundation committee,
Your foundation's scholarship has been a true blessing to my family and me. Thinking back, I could not have imagined at the beginning of my educational experience that a scholarship would have such significance in my journey. As a current junior college student, the overwhelming financial aspects of tuition, textbooks, and educational fees can be extremely taxing. Because of the generosity of the committee, I can focus on my educational pursuits and personal development without the thought of how I will pay for these unsettling expenses that come to mind. This scholarship has reduced my financial burden but has also solidified my views on hard work in education, resiliency, and community work. In addition, knowing some organizations care about students and want to see them succeed has to be the most phenomenal experience I have been able to become a part of.
With funding from your organization, I have stayed engaged in my classes, was able to do extracurricular activities specific to my field; like providing a helping hand to individuals who needed a break away from their hectic lives by watching their children and being able to learn why children create and commit certain actions, and provided volunteer service and projects to my community. As someone passionate about giving back and making a difference, especially in underserved communities, your investment in my education inspires me to keep pushing forward and to one day give back in the same way. Thank you for believing in my potential and for helping make my academic and career goals more attainable.
Your generosity is not only helping me today, but it’s also helping shape the future I’m working hard to build. This foundation's scholarship has also lifted the financial burden off my mother, as she helps to pay for my schooling. She is a single mother (with an autoimmune disease) who is not only working to help one child through college, but two (and at the very least, we are twins who entered college at the same time).
Thank you so much for this opportunity. Once again, this scholarship is a fundamental step in my learning. It has allowed me to learn about complexities I had never thought I would learn when I thought of university as a child.

I'm incredibly grateful to the MDR Foundation for the generous scholarship support I received throughout my four years at Cornell University.
The scholarship played a significant role in easing the financial burden on both my mother and me, allowing me to focus more fully on my studies and extracurricular opportunities without the added stress of figuring out how to fund my education.
While at Cornell, I participated in extracurricular activities that were unpaid, such as being a board member of a club, being a teaching assistant, and doing R&D at a startup in Ithaca.
This support made a meaningful difference in my academic journey, and I'm thankful to have been a recipient. I hope my experience can help inspire future scholars to pursue their goals with confidence.

Greetings members of the MDR foundation,
It is an honor that this time you are hearing from me is not because I have to provide a transcript or a schedule to prove that I am still enrolled in college, but because of the help of your scholarship, belief, and faith in me that I am now a graduate from my dream school, Morgan State University!!!!! This honestly feels like a dream come true; the MDR foundation has helped me a lot in turning my dreams into reality! On May 17th, 2025, I graduated from MSU with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree.
Graduating from not only college but nursing school and obtaining my BSN has indeed been a difficult journey, but the MDR foundation has helped me from my freshman year all the way up to my senior year of college. Attending an HBCU (historic black college/university) has taught me the power of the black community uplifting each other and future generations to come to make sure that African Americans and minorities make it to the finish line called success. Going into college as a first generation student in my household was be pretty intimidating, but I had amazing people help me significantly along the way, such as Ms. Betty. Ms. Betty is an amazing woman who I look up to dearly and inspires me to be like one day. Ms. Betty served as my mentor before, during and after college. She has always been a phone call away to encourage me to expand my knowledge and seek out opportunities courageously.
Ms. Betty has told me about the MDR foundation and encouraged me to apply for the Scholarship and I am forever grateful for Ms. Betty and the MDR foundation! I was, with God by my side, able to obtain one of the hardest Bachelor degrees to obtain, my BSN, and soon would be proud to announce to MDR Foundation that I have officially became a registered nurse (RN) at the age of 23. Thank you again to all members of the MDR foundation for supporting me along this journey and I am proud that you are able to see me graduate from the National Treasure, Morgan State University because of your help. Thank you for encouraging and supporting African Americans like myself to go to college and graduate from college as well. Thank you again, God bless you always!

"The MDR scholarship has been a tremendous support for me in two key ways: mentally and financially.
By alleviating the financial strain on my family, it has eased my worries about contributing financially, allowing me to focus more on my studies.
Beyond that, it has reshaped my mindset in college—I now fully appreciate the opportunity I’ve been given and am committed to working hard to make the most of it."
